Our Location
Villa Serena is situated on a small country road near the outskirts of Alghero (look out for a brand new roundabout with palm trees and a stone archway in the middle of it). The road has been named on Google Maps as 'Strada Vicinale di Garrone, although it is not signposted locally.
The road leads to other private villas and small farms so you might see some tractors and sheep on your way! As you drive down our road on your way to the villa you will see us on the left-hand side about 100 metres from the postboxes.
The location is far enough away from Alghero to be peaceful, yet not at all isolated as it is only 5 km to the Airport, 2 km to the nearest beach (La Pinetta, near Maria Pia), restaurants and supermarkets, and about 3 km to Alghero Old Town.
HOW TO GET TO SARDINIA
Sardinia is the second largest island in the Mediterranean so to get here the options are flying or via a ferry from mainland Italy.
Alghero has it's own International Airport located just north of the town (3 km from the villa). You can get direct flights to this airport from the UK - with Ryan Air, Easyjet or the European airlines - PLEASE CHECK THEIR WEBSITES FOR ROUTES AND AVAILABILITY
There is another airport on the east coast of the island - Olbia Airport (which is about a one and a half hour drive away on good roads). It also has direct flights from the UK.
The other airport to the south is Calgliari. The city is about 300 km from Alghero and is about 3 hours drive away.
Post COVID-19 - please check with airlines for flight dates and routes as these are changing on a frequent basis dependent on UK government guidelines.
Alghero airport is a destination from many European cities and you can travel from many British airports to Italian mainland airports such as Rome, Milan, Turin and take onward flights to Alghero.
If you want to drive to Sardinia, then you have to head for Genoa in northern Italy and take the 12 hour overnight ferry to Porto Torres which is about 20 kms from the villa.
